as an ordinary non-brainy computer user, i'm looking for a new desktop. Whats vista like compared with xp, any difficulties or should i be aware of anything in particular. Anyone using quad core yet? Looked at computers on ebay and some of them appear to have a huge spec for little money, any advise would be welcome. Thanks guys. :)

Upgrade, the door has been closed with regards to anglers being linked to the e u superstate and the failed c f p. So TAT will no longer need to pay monies to the EAA anymore as that org is no longer relevant to the u k . Goodbye to the europeon anglers alliance and pathetic restrictions from the e u.

Consumer of bass. where is the evidence that the u k bass stock need angling trust protection. Why won't you work with your peers instead of castigating them. They have the answer.

Recipie's for mullet stew more than welcomed.

Angling sanitation trust and kent and sussex sea anglers org delete's and blocks rsa's alternative opinion on their face book site. Although they claim to rep all.

new for 2014. where is the evidence that the south coast bream stock need the angling trust? Your campaign has no evidence. Why won't you work with your peers, the inshore under tens? As opposed to alienating them? Angling trust failed big time re bait digging, even fish legal attempted to intervene and failed, all for what, nothing.

Looks like the sea angling reps have been coerced by the ifca's to compose sea angling strategy's that the ifca's at some stage will look at drafting into legislation to manage the rsa, because they like wasting tax payers money. That's without asking the rsa btw. You know who you are..

Plenty of people will slate Vista, but I've found it very useable and very stable, I use my laptop for work and need to rely on it, and running Vista I can. I guess some people just don't like change :)

I've now got Vista on a laptop and a desktop.

I've had no problems at all (Well apart from needing a new webcam and scanner because there weren't any Vista drivers available).

(Make sure that you have at least 2gig of memory, or you could find it running slow.)

Just make sure that you have vista driver support for all you hardware. You'll want at least 2Gigs of RAM. Go for 4 if poss.

The problem isn't what people don't know, it's what they know that just ain't so.

I'm running Vista now and it does well.

Frustrating at times for geeks since it is a control freak in many ways.

Excellent for those who want to simply use a computer since it is a control freak in many ways so you can spend more time working and less time protecting/cleaning/fixing the PC itself.

I moved to Vista from XP-pro and was fully prepared to hate it and dump it in favour of a reformat and loading XP-pro since I have several good copies. I'm still using it a few months on and have no plans to revert back to XP.

Isn't it the case that only the 64 bit versions of Vista can use 4gb? the 32 bit version that Barry will most likely be using can only use 3gb.

Thanks for all the info guys, keep it coming. :) I'm not tied down to what i can use as i think that i would like to have one built for me. Certainly don't want one that is going to be slow running, although i wouldn't be using it for big downloads.

Vista with 2Gb (what I have) is actually pretty agile.
