Make sure that it's clean, no bits of groundbait, pellet etc, and stitch lightly to hold in position, then use some of this with a patch onto both sides. I've used it on PVC based material before, and found it pretty good.

Hot glue ,pop rivets and seatbelts fix most stuff

 

Ps seat belts make excellent belts and straps and 50mm bits are easily found to make the catches and adjusters

I'll see if I can get it off the box and see what the mrs can do to it. Hoping she will that is. If not I'll try your suggestions with glue. Unfortunately don't have many saddlerys by me or cobblers :(
