Do you just fish local waters or do you travell a lot to differant venues?

Interesting to see if many of you travel very far to venues or prefer to just stick to the local ponds or rivers.

Best wishes

Haven't done too much these last couple of seasons Tigger, but in the not too distant past I've known myself to do a 375 mile round trip for a single day's fishing on the Avon.

Used to travel to Felixstowe and back twice in a day, about 300miles ,(My nearest coast.) to catch both tides on a sat and sunday some weekends too when I was keen on beach fishing.

Mine is mostly localish trips of about the same distances as TheMargins with an occasional planned long trip.

Were it not for the need to work at a regular job, I'd move close to a good fishing lake and do most of my fishing there.

I am lucky that I have at least 6 top class fisheries within 6 miles, and I fish them all as the mood takes me,

I have the whole Norfolk Broads at the end of my garden and the North Sea within three miles so I don't tend to travel more than thirty miles. But I am not adverse to the odd haul to the Fens or Bristol Avon.

I've got loads of water practically on my doorstep - typically 7-10 miles is my usual trip, great for short spells and unplanned 'if the mood takes me' visits to the bank. Do occaisionally venture outside the county (Berks) to fish theTest, Itchen, Avon etc....

1 pond ,1 swim ,if the swims being used we dont go ,yes it is the one nearest the car park.

as a youth i used to fish everywhere i could but nowadays i cant be bothered ,the fish are secondry to sitting in the sun and thinking of nothing.

a couple of times last year my mrs fished and i just sat there

My boat is 25 miles away. I do that trip about 4/6 times a month year round. Then I fish the Kennet (120 mile round trip) about 2/3 times a month and then the Broads (300 mile round trip) about once per month during the season. AN fish-ins on the southern trout streams and the midlands add another 200 miles round trip, 3/4 times every year.

My total annual fishing mileage is probably in excess of 7000 miles

Your deffo a keen angler, have you never fancied giving it a go up north or the lakes?

I have the Irish sea 5 min from my house which i fish frequently but have yet to fish any of the fresh water venues on the island. There is a small river about 5mins in the car which i've never seen anyone fish so i would imagine it would be a case of getting permission off the farmer to have a dabble . The river comes from a large lake(reservoir) about 15 mins away but i think it's expensive at £550 a year or £20 a day. I know the ress is stocked with trout but i dont know what else is in their. The lake is called Llyn Alaw if anyone has ever heard of it. There are quite a few intreeging looking waters and rivers within half an hour from my house but with not living here that long i still have'nt got round to finding out about permits etc.

Has anyone on the board ever done any fishing here on Anglesey?

Tigger.
