How long have you been fishing.

About 48 years now. Started when I was about 6, with a solid cane rod and a bake-alite centre pin reel loaded with what looked like bailing twine compared to the line of to-day. Floats that you would need a great white shark to take under, or a mako to make it bob, hooks were like grappling irons etc, but I carried on and have enjoyed every moment of my fishing even the blanks etc.

Interestingly no-one else in the family fished so I had to learn by mistakes, people passing on info to my dad, who in turn had to try to get it through to me, and him-self. I fished the Trent for a short while, then a local pond that the police club had the rights to. I graduated to carp fishing at 18, and have been carp fishing ever since alongside my float fishing I must add, so I've been carp fishing for over 38yrs. (that makes me feel old now). But there you go thats how long I've been fishing.

i started when i was 5 had the advantage that an uncle owned a tackleshop so got to know loads of people who would take me, and i've never forgotten . Still seem to spend as much time on the bank fishing as showing the kids who turn up how to set up there gear properly (normally with my shot hooks and hooklenghts 10lb line to a size 18 just isnt right) so for me its just over the 30 yrs hopefully with another 50 to come.

everytime i catch a fish i'm lucky when i blank i'm a hopeless angler.

25+ years for me and I would miss it terribly if I could not get out. I remember struggling when I first went and never even got put off after catching nothing for my first couple of outings, my first fish was a small Perch on the Oxford canal. I had to teach myself as none of my family fished but decided I wanted to try and have been fishing ever since.

I have been fishing since I was 11 so that makes 39 years; though I did not bother much for the three years i was at University.
