Korda to save fishing

Trouble is if 68% of a clubs members predominately fish for carp then the club has to cater for that number or lose them.

The water i bailiff is certainly not a carp water the carp can be counted on two hands but this is reflected in the numbers you see in the spring and autumn on its banks ,most days the only fool down there is me !

Had there been carp i have no doubt the water would be attended far more but without me

Believe NOTHING anyones says or writes unless you witness it yourself and even then your eyes can deceive you

None of this "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" crap it just means i have at least two enemies!

There is only one opinion i listen to ,its mine and its ALWAYS right even when its wrong

Its far easier to curse the darkness than light one candle

If the responses on here are anything to go by, then he will probably succeed and who knows? the idea may spread to include other types of fisheries?

And as for all the PATHETIC name twisting, how many of you would have the balls to say it to his face? Childish, cowardly and down right bloody ignorant the lot of you,

And no, I don't buy Korda gear.

Den

PS, don't start on my name either or you will regret it.

Big enough balls to say it to the boilie on his face, ok that was a wee touch too far I dont dislike him but with a name like his you just HAVE to.

btw ive had a look at other forums and general feel is the same. All round anglers will be feeling hard done by as he snaps up "fallow" lakes so who decides what a fallow lake is, and "theres not gonna be loads of nuisance fish" needs more explaining and I thought he would have been on that facebook discussion well before now.

I dont know much of what its like down there but if I had to imagine what he means by fallow lakes are ones that are not commercialised or managed.

well up here lochs like that can be amazing for nuisance fish, the fish manage themselves quite nicely, any regulars fishing those fallow lakes then have fairbrass take over is a good swift kick in the balls.

theres only one carp fishery up here that I quite like and take newbies to and its got a good mix of all species. I go to catch the tench, mental init, going to a carp fishery for tench! what ever next.

rant over ;)

I think that's a fair reply Andy. I can understand why Den has moaned as it does seem to be the in thing to nock Mr Fairbrass ,his crew, company and its products. However is people have got a genuine reason to do so then that's equally fine in my book. Like I said though for me its pretty irellevant if his motives are well meant or not I would be worried about ANY person who wanted to take over the control of waters en block and turn them into a single species venue regardless of what that species was! What happened to the days when anglers could "share" waters and run them for the general good of angling? and in my book angling means all fish and all anglers.

Ive seen it on both sides! First the match anglers had control (as in general they were in the majority, well kind of as all though there was allways more general/"pleasure" anglers the matchmen were the biggest "united"/ represented group) they insisted on having every thing and running it to suit their own needs (note NOT running it well but running it to THEIR needs) Carp/Specimen hunters got a pretty raw deal. Now the Carper is in the majority and we se the same ie everything has to be their way and for their benefit! Weve simply just exchanged selfish (short sighted) control freaks who wanted cannalised banks and flat pegs every 15m, all predators killed, all carp removed because when hooked by accident they took to long to land in a match, and tons of small silver fish put in to selfish (short sighted) control freaks who want enourmous flat gravelled/wood barked swims every 25m, all predators removed/shot/killed, all non Carp removed as they are a nucence and tons of the fattest bloated Mudpigs possible stocked! So weve got no where!

Mark my words in Mr Fairbrass had been born 30 years earlier he wopuld have been a hardcore match angler and running a campaign to turn every "fallow water" into a match lake! Why cant people just enjoy and respect all forms of angling? surely the variety of it is what keeps people in the game long term? (our Den being a perfect example of this) All this "specialisation" just leads to a very blinkered approach.

Again as Mr Fairbrass has proved he knows his onions I think its quite frightening that such a capable man is behind this move (again regardless of motives). Simply as he would be more than capable of making this happen.

Andy's "so who decides what a fallow lake" comment is very pertinent. We've sadly seen the loss of many other good non carp waters as they've been "turned" into specialist carp waters (same as in the "match days" we saw great specimen/predator venues trashed) How many of the waters that non carpers (I use that term but accept that there are many ,like my self and Den who fish for carp as just another of the many species) love will be deemed as "fallow" simply because they aint already carp waters but would be good ones?

Not Mr Fairbrass himself admittedly but one of his business associates/friends/gang told me once (and recently) that Wingham Coarse lake was "a waste" as it would make a great carp water....I ask all of you who have fished it /are be going to have a crack at it this month to tell me if its a "waste" or not! (yes I know its a bit different but Im just trying to give an example of what so many "carpers" would regard as "wasted" water) I actually think its quite a good carp water as it is!

Again why cant we have a balance/a mixture which then allows people both variety and choice? all this "saviour scheme" will do is eat away at that variety and choice.

Like the whole commercial issue I have NO PROBLEM with people taking on run down, poorly managed, understocked waters and turning them into fisheries (and to a degree would even be happy if they were single species waters as although I don't think these make for the best fisheries and again its sad they are so narrowly focussed BUT better than a stagnant over run empty pond) But the issue is these "deserving waters" wont be taken over/developed it will be ready established (but non carp orientated ones) that are.

Den you commented on the daft name calling and seemingly "Korda Bashing" but didn't say a lot about the actual proposed plans? be interested in your views on my genuine concerns. Would you as an Allrounder like to see a bit more variation? a bit more "angling unity" or do you think those days have gone and anglings only future is the way of carp? A genuine question as I respect your experience and do worry myself that even though I don't personally like it the modern carp scene (where practically every angler you meet is a carp angler) is the closest angling has ever actually been to being "united"?

I was talking to Den Darkin (Poledark) as while ago about Danny Fairbrass. Den taught me, without realising it, that keeping things simple as a non-specialist angler is just as successful as complicating things.

It struck me, having watched him do a presentation at the NEC, and some of his Tackle Guru programmes, that his whole schtick revolves around getting as much Korda stuff between you and the fish as possible.

At the risk of sounding like a terminal (pun intended) snob, it's his voice as much as what he says that irritates me.

This is a signature, there are many signatures like it but this one is mine

I hope this fails miserably but only because I dislike the man and what he stands for.

In principal though Budgie is it any different to what we were talking about on the Tenchfishers page about them securing some waters to secure Tench fishing for the future other than Danny Fairbrass has the cash behind him to do something about it?

It might not be a bad thing anyway, all the Crap Yobs will want to move off the mixed fisheries and onto his Lakes - everyone's a winner!

If he ended up with a Lake in every county I'd be amazed.

Budgie, out of interest what was your reply to his mates comments about the Coarse Lake at Wingham?

I'd like to know what happens to rat populations on waters where you prevent access by mammalian predators. Anyone had any experience of this?

It doesn't matter about them, they don't dive into the water, then wrestle with specimen fish, kill them, only to nibble a small portion, and then dive in for another one, just to do it all again.

Otters do all this just for the fun of it, don't cha know?

Angling is more than just catching fish, if it wasn't it would just be called 'catching'......... John
