Korda to save fishing

Anderoo

Recommended Posts

Korda in my view make good quality tackle and on a personal level i like danny however....

You might help them out with fences etc but when you’re gone matey the owner will wack his prices up and so they make a 100% profit on the extra money they will charge to the member

How about subsidising any increase in any rise on members fees after you have put up fences etc and left.

I am seriously losing interest in the South East as there are too many carp money grabber owners and i refuse to have a ‘when in Rome’ attitude becoming a carp angler.

I bet every carp farm owner is licking his lips and already planning his next holiday if he gets on Mr Fairbrass list and every member cancelling theirs or looking at putting up their gear for sale on E-bay certainly in Kent, Sussex and surrey for sure.

There is not one thing different between ideology and religeon

If the responses on here are anything to go by, then he will probably succeed and who knows? the idea may spread to include other types of fisheries?

And as for all the PATHETIC name twisting, how many of you would have the balls to say it to his face? Childish, cowardly and down right bloody ignorant the lot of you,

And no, I don't buy Korda gear.

PS, don't start on my name either or you will regret it.

"When through the woods and forest glades I wanderAnd hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees; When I look down from lofty mountain grandeur,And hear the brook, and feel the breeze;and see the waves crash on the shore,Then sings my soul..................

That's rich Den, having a go at people taking the p**s out of someone who's taking the p**s out of every other branch of angling.

I don't know the man, (he might be a personal friend of yours, for all I know), all I can go by is the way he comes over in stunts like this latest one. A man who can proclaim that he's 'going to save angling', then announce probably the most divisive idea I can think of, lends himself to such ridicule. Don't you think that a scheme that proposes to take over every stillwater it can, to promote just one form of angling, is going to drive an even bigger wedge between the different disciplines. This at a time when there are moans about apathy, and calls for more unity within angling.

As for the idea of it spreading to other species, I hope not. Who wants to fish seperate waters each dedicated to a different species? What's so bad and unappealing about variety in angling?

Angling is more than just catching fish, if it wasn't it would just be called 'catching'......... John

I don't agree with a lot of what Danny says or does but I do think he gets undeservedly slated. I think many can not seperate the angler from the business man, he gets a kicking for pushing Carp angling at the expense of other forms of fishing. He runs a company dedicated to Carp fishing, so why would he be all about promoting other angling. Would you expect a butcher to be singing the praises of green grocers and encouraging every one to go veggie?

I don't agree with his ideas here but can see why he wants to do it, as Budgie pointed out he is good business acumen and as any good business man will do he acts to promote his own products and if he can manipulate the market place to suit what he supplies then he will do. If the bread and butter of your company is leads, hook length material, techi rig bits etc why would you be all about promoting "silver fish" for want of a better term that only requires a float and a hook?

Danny is no mug and a damn fine angler, and for me the bottom line is Korda make good kit and what a lot of AN members struggle with is that a huge number of anglers maybe even the majority agree with these crazy kind of ideas. Basic business principal "give them what they want" and if they don't want it convince them that they do need it.

I don't think seeing how he stands to benefit from the plan makes it any less deserving of a slating - if anything quite the opposite!

But where does the "saving angling" bit come into it Stephen? There's a fine line between 'convincing someone to buy your product, and 'conning' them into doing it.

Ok, he might be a fantastic business man, and his gear might be the dogs whatsits, but surely if he is to be the self appointed 'saviour of angling', there has to be at least some thought for the rest of angling. To propose, and initially finance a plan that will virtually exclude a very large section of anglers, (coincidently the one's who are least likely to buy his gear), is hardly in the best interests of angling as a whole.

But then again, I'm an old fashioned bloke, who happens to believe somethings are more important than just making more and more money.

The saving angling is total tosh and i am certainly not praising him for that just pointing out that as a business man then he will pursue a course of action that benefits his business. I am geting on a bit myself but oddly I dont remember this golden utopia when angling stood together on issues. Angling has always been divisive with different factions fighting their corner and trying to mold/change waters/clubs etc to their form of the sport. That might be match men chucking Pike in the bushes, pleasure anglers wanting extra stocks of silvers or specimen anglers wanting the stock thined out, restrictions on how to fish or who is allowed priveledges to night fish etc.

It just happens that at the moment Carp fishing has the dosh and plenty of particpants to get their way. It's siimply the way it is, if others who are not Carp fans feel differntly their is nothing stoping them changing things to suit their interests other then maybe money and lack of interest from other similar thinking anglers.

John, you always put across good points and arguments and sometimes even convence me but the brutal truth is most just dont care about non-carp fishing and the last person to expect to be promoting it would be a guy in charge of a Carp fishing business.

In my mind old Danny takes the knocks for all the frustrations of those who can not influence angling in the way they want. For the record I enjoy fishing for anything and everything and I am not a fan of single species style waters and would always want to fish a mixed fishery but many anglers want to catch only Carp and really don't want other species present. That's a very sad situation but its what a lot of the "angling community" want and slating Danny and Korda for it is pointless. If the majority of angling really wanted Non-Carp fishing then we would have more of it.

Hi Stephen, despite our joking, and taking the mick out of each other, I think we agree on more things than we often admit. :D

I understand the situation in regards to carpitus, and yes I do find it frustrating that the industry, and media promote ideas that I see as harmful to angling, and it's place in the environment. I also get frustrated that I'm not in a position, either physically, or financially, to be more proactive, and fight those ideas. What I, and others like me, (yes there are a few), will continue to do is speak out against it. I don't like racism, but it doesn't stop me slating those who promote it. If anyone puts their views into the public domain, then they are putting themselves up for criticism of those views. I put my side on a couple of forums, and accept the 'slatings' that I get, as a part of that. Just because he's a good businessman, with angling ties, doesn't exclude him from criticism of his methods or ideas. I personally find this particular project more cynical than usual, because it has the potential to drive an even bigger wedge between anglers than those things you mention. The sad thing is, that many anglers are so gullible that they will fall for the idea, and follow like sheep, ( I think the word is sheeple).

I'm not yearning for the past, or even looking at it through rose tinted glasses. I'm trying to look to the future, and I can see the potential damage this financially driven single species campagne can lead to. That's for both angling, and the environment that surrounds it.

Up the Revolution. Bring it on. :boxing:
