Eating wild caught fish is good for my health, reduces food miles and keeps me fit trying to catch them........it's my choice to do it, not yours to stop me!

Not only that Nick, but the word 'carp' is mentioned only once in the whole article!

Like any good campaign, play on the fear of the customers, (oops sorry), people involved. The PAG, seem to have a big hand in this 'project', that in itself is enough to put me off it, never mind all the other issues I have with the idea.

John.

Angling is more than just catching fish, if it wasn't it would just be called 'catching'......... John

I think Danny can't win no matter what he does, I don't really care for his plan and I am not that bothered how many fish get eaten or not by Otters. However the biggest problems with angling is apathy and lack of action. We all bitch about what we don't like but very few make any effort to change it, at least he is literally putting his money where his mouth is. He may be way wrong with his plan but at least he has one which HE BELIEVES will make a difference.

So it's ok as long as you're doing something, even if that thing is bad for angling as a whole, Stephen?

gozzer,

You're going to have to stop making assumptions about """"even if that thing is bad for angling as a whole"""". By what right or benefit do you get to decide?

Gozzer's (and mine) assumptions are based on facts Phone....Facts borne out by the otter reintroductions for one. They are native and they're here. If people want to stuff non-native fish in ponds then they must protect them or be prepared to lose them to wildlife.

A tackle manufacturer that makes his money from selling carp angling gear is planning to fill as many stillwaters as he can find with non-native fish (to the detriment of UK wildlife) to make money....that is "bad for angling as a whole"...but good for his wallet!.......he referred to native fish (non-carp species) as "nuisance fish"...you should see the general view of most (non-carp) anglers' opinions!....Not bloody happy!

Eating wild caught fish is good for my health, reduces food miles and keeps me fit trying to catch them........it's my choice to do it, not yours to stop me!

It's a legitimate hypothetical question, Phone - is it better to do something harmful than to do nothing?

wot like the trust, today they make play on the 'cormorant' issue where they are arranging for up to 3000 to be killed. They won't use the language 'killed' though but that is what they are implying and that is what they want to see. Edited by barry luxton

Free to choose apart from the ones where the trust poked their nose in. Common eel. tope. Bass and sea bream. All restricted.

New for 2016 TAT are the main instigators for the demise of the u k bass charter boat industry, where they went screaming off to parliament and for the first time assisting so called angling gurus set up bass take bans with the e u using rubbish exaggerated info collected by ices from anglers, they must be very proud.

Upgrade, the door has been closed with regards to anglers being linked to the e u superstate and the failed c f p. So TAT will no longer need to pay monies to the EAA anymore as that org is no longer relevant to the u k . Goodbye to the europeon anglers alliance and pathetic restrictions from the e u.

Angling is better than politics, ban politics from angling.

Consumer of bass. where is the evidence that the u k bass stock need angling trust protection. Why won't you work with your peers instead of castigating them. They have the answer.

Recipie's for mullet stew more than welcomed.

Angling sanitation trust and kent and sussex sea anglers org delete's and blocks rsa's alternative opinion on their face book site. Although they claim to rep all.

new for 2014. where is the evidence that the south coast bream stock need the angling trust? Your campaign has no evidence. Why won't you work with your peers, the inshore under tens? As opposed to alienating them? Angling trust failed big time re bait digging, even fish legal attempted to intervene and failed, all for what, nothing.

Looks like the sea angling reps have been coerced by the ifca's to compose sea angling strategy's that the ifca's at some stage will look at drafting into legislation to manage the rsa, because they like wasting tax payers money. That's without asking the rsa btw. You know who you are..

The thing is he is doing what HE thinks is right, i certainly do not agree with him but then I don't agree with thousands of people on thousands of different subjects.

To spin it around a bit, those of who who are not so keen on the noble carp. If you where in a similar position as Danny and had enough dosh behind you and support to make it happen, How many of you would like to see a large scale removal of Carp and a return to more natural mixed fisheries? If you could do it? Would you? and would that be best for angling?

I think it is quite extraordinary that people expect him to do what is best for angling, well their interpretion of what is best angling. He is doing what he believes is good for angling or his business either way I don't think you will find that many people who would take no action if they felt strongly about something and had the means to influence it.

Like most things in life, one mans meat is another mans poison. i am sure there a lots of people who think his idea is a good one (Not me) Once you get away from our cosy little forum most other anglers want Carp and they don't want "nuisance fish" and predators.

I don't really want him to succeed, but if i had the cash and influence i would be doing my best to try to do the best for angling (i.e What I like), well my version of what I think is best and so would many others. To expect Fairbrass to do any different is rather naive or damn right stupid.

Vote Fairbrass and save us all from evangelical coarse anglers who know what is best for angling :-)
