Well not to be outdone I have just gone and caught a Turtle, as usual the camera was miles away but the animal was returned unharmed. I also had a shed load of Channel Catfish up to three pounds, great fun on a travel float rod and four pound test, not so much fun on a 2.5lb test curve travel carp rod nd twelve pound test. We are off guided Bass fishing on Thursday our last day, hopefully I will get some pictures,

The look on the guys face says it all.

Good luck with the bass.

Angling is more than just catching fish, if it wasn't it would just be called 'catching'......... John

I have caught snapper turtles also - only small ones though.

The name "snapper" is not bestowed for compliment's sake> These guys can shear a finger joint off !

It's pretty obvious when you catch one - their whole appearance and body language says " handle with caution"

Good luck with the black bass Tony and Sue. The first rush is awesome, but they haven't got a lot of stamina.

Well I caught my Bass on Caddo Lake on the Louisiana and Texas border, using a zoom sexy shad (ooh er missus). I will get a picture on when I get back this weekend. It fought a bit like a superannuated Perch all bluff and bluster for a few runs and then not much. I learned a lot about how to fish soft plastics though and I think I will try to put into practice going after Sea Bass this summer.

I hooked a snapper while spinning for bass in Florida some years back. I was on my own and was c######g myself, wondering how I'd get it off the hook once I landed it.. Luckily a couple of guys in a boat came over and pulled it over onto it's back in the water and took the hook out with pliers. Phew! They said it was common in that creek.

I hooked a snapping turtle a few years ago in a canal in SW Florida, on float fished luncheon meat. Guess it weighed about 30 lb or so and as I was bending over the side of the dock trying to get the hook out, this surfaced about 10 feet behind it !!

To say I rushed the unhooking of the turtle is a bit of an understatement !

Thankfully both the turtle, and myself survived, and the 'gator went hunting elsewhere!

I guessed she wasn't the first, but it was a bit of a surprise when we brought it in.
