Anyone ever fished there?

Supposed to be a great pike water only really found by boat though.

Anyone fished from the bank?

I have passed it many a time and wondered....

I have never fished it Dave but I believe the Pike & Carp fishing was run as syndicates. I am not sure if they still are but it might be hard to get much info on the Pike, you know how secret squirrel synidicate types can be at times. I had heard there are a lot of Pike in it and good sized but that is only hear say and so don't really know if it's true or not.

I used to fish it about 15 years ago - for roach. Increasing numbers of bream made a decent catch of roach more and more difficult so eventually I moved on to other waters. If you wanted to (which I didn't) a concentrated assault on the bream would have your catch measured in crans rather than pounds.

Also fished the small pond in the reservoir grounds - orfe up to 3 lb if you could avoid the carp.

Dunno what the present set-up is, when it attracted carpers and pikers the prices went up, so that was an additional reason for leaving.

Here is one of the orfe

PS Just looked at my old records - "15 years ago" was not a bad guess, I last fished it in 2000

Roach to not much over a pound, and one thing I had forgotten - hoards of roach-bream hybrids

One other disincentive - bank fishing was pretty messy - Canada Goose crap everywhere.

I had a ticket when it was a trout fishery, superb fishing but I left and "moved on". When I rejoined it was being stocked with fewer but larger fish, 3 pounders and upwards. Not long after it all went tits up and the trout fishing stopped.

Several years later I got a ticket to catch the reputed big roach, "loads of 2 pounders" load of b####ks more like, caught hundreds and never saw anything like a two pounder...............but..............it may have changed after I left.

there were some huge pike in there. I had one which towed my boat half way across the ressy. I was being followed by 2 other boats who were planning to help net the "monster" , but it got off when the huge white lure I was using (wink wink) came undone. It was very likely one of the forty pounders!

Would agree with that Den, I had a lot of roach, but very few over the pound, and about 1lb 4 oz tops.

  • 3 weeks later...

Whilst the pike and carp fishing is run on a syndicate basis I believe that general coarse fishing can be had by joining Edenbridge angling club. I used to match fish it quite a bit and there are quite a lot of the decent size Bream that you were after in your other post.
