are they available in tackle shops as it would be useful to have some bait with a shelf life, I always have a jar of paste and can easily pick up bread for coarse fishing, these would be similar

  • 4 weeks later...

I would like to say that we ( Tackle X Change)have sold over 600 packets of fish n strips to sea anglers all over the country and many shops are now stocking them. Also carp seem to like them as well, pole fishing for them anyway. Best carp last week was 14lb.12oz from a Norwich lake.I bet cat fish like them too.Get some carp anglers to try them out i reckon.

Weymouth Agling Centre are astonished at the huge amounts they are selling, so I suppose anglers, having used them, are going back for more!

Jim.

Are they going back for more? I think the answer is yes.

I witnessed a guy outfishing the rest of us last weekend! He was using the same bait as the rest of us. He just used a thin strip as tipping!

Yes folks. Cut one of those strips in four lengthways. Then just nick it onto the hook.

That guy was catching black bream and bass on the same trace.

I believe. OK.

Paul.

We don`t use J`s anymore!!

At that rate it would only be half-a-crown or so a bait.

I do something similar to make the worm stay on the hook longer.

Just got in from the beach.

No doggies at all. Lots of little pout. Put a pout head on for bait(I took only worms and fishbites with me) and promptly got a conger on.

Got it into the surf and nearly out before the hook length broke in the undertow.

It was at least 12lb but could have been 20 lb or more.

No mate, no gaff, no wire trace, no fishcakes!

I have used Fish'n'Strips extensively and can honestly say that they have not appeared to improve my catch rate at all.

The nearest I came to a "scientific" test, was when I had a dogfish a drop, fishing fresh mackerel strips in Clew Bay last week.

I baited with only Fish'n'Strips and didn,t get a bite.

Went back to fresh mackerel strips and caught fish immediately.

If they give you confidence,as an additional bait item, use them.

But, try them as the only bait on your hook and the confidence may wane.

 I did a review on them for the SAN and I found that used in conjunction with bait they caught more fish than bait alone from the boat. Used on their own they caught fish but at a slower rate. From the shore they didn't make any difference at all when bait was tipped with it. On their own they still caught fish but again at a slower rate, but they don't claim it to be better than bait but an alternative when bait is unavailable, unlike that Ultrabite stuff. I tested it and it made no difference at all, no more, no less fish, no bigger fish, no smaller fish. The hook baits soaked in it caught exactly the same number of fish of the same size and same species as baited hooks fished without it. And you can't use it on its own. It's made a lot of money for some people though, good marketing or what!
