Off Muskegon. A thick morning mist hides the shorline
I love this shot, without the rod it would probably be nothing special, but with it, it's superb.

Mount Bromo in Java

Wow, awesome colours, did it look like that to the naked eye?

Note how much sharper the lamp post is.

Charlie, I've saved, into a seperate folder, the modified photos you & Steve have come up with from my prom shot. I keep flicking from one to the other - & I can't make my mind up which I prefer. One things for sure, I prefer both to the original, so I'm glad I asked & also glad you guys took time out to process the photo for me, it makes me realise what can be achieved. I shall try & achieve the same results with the original piccy tomorrow.

Cheers

Yes, pretty much. Had to trek for an hour in the dark to get there for sunrise. All over in half an hour!

I love the lampost picture. Absolutely fantastic, in a class of its own

No problem.

As I said, the method I use works well for me.

-------------------------------------------------------

This is how I would tweak it.

I would first use 'Levels'. Image, Adjustments, Levels

I would then use 'Hue/Saturation'. Image, Adjustments, Hue/Saturation

Then 'Colour Balance'. Image, Adjustments, Colour Balance

But not always in the above order.

I always finish off by seeing if 'Unsharp Mask' will add the finishing touch to my photo. Filter, Sharpen, Unsharp Mask - I use in the region of 5-50% - i.e. depending on the sharpness required.

I then play about with 'History' to see if I have made the right decisions.

-------------------------------------------------------

By the way, I use Photoshop 7 and Photoshop Elements 2

Unbearable, isn't it? The suffering of strangers, the agony of friends. There is a secret song at the center of the world, and its sound is like razors through flesh.

Pretty shots of the lake.
