I could use a little bit of help

I'm looking to write something about EXIF info and how to keep it intact in your photos, in as many different photo editing softwares as is possible. I know how to keep it in photoshop so that is okay, but can any of you help with the software that you use?

Can you post a picture here writing which of the many softwares you used and more importantly the steps you used to save it. This could be any one of the following, "Save As", "Save" "Save for Web" etc etc.

If I cant read the Exif from the photo you have posted then I may ask you to try to save the photo in another way as all digital photos have this EXIF info in them when the picture is taken.

The piece I want to write will hopefully be a concise guide to other photographers who join us here.

Thanks in advance.

Dont all rush me at once :D because I wont be able to cope if you do... :clap2:

In all seroiusness, the photo challenge will eventually be no exif - no entry and rather than have people who cant enter because the knowledge is not there I would rather that it was in place.

Steve, I've a Canon S2IS and use ArcSoft PhotoImpression at the moment, although Peggy's got Ulead PhotoImpact on her computer and I may be switching over to that. I know EXIF data is available but I've no idea how to get it onto the Forum. Any help gratefully received.

Steve,

I've looked at both yours and Peggy's entries to the trees challenge and neither of your photo's had an exif attached. I have a strong feeling that both of you may have used a "save for web" type feature which will always try to remove kbs from the file size, one of the first things to go is the Exif info, even though its only a few kbs in size itself. I would suggest trying a "save as" feature of your repective programs to see if that solves the problem.

If you do not have a dedicated exif viewer installed (as I have) you can get one here and this will allow you to copy and paste the exif info to your posts. If you dont have an exif viewer and dont want to use one you can right click your photo in windows click proprties, click the summary tab then click advanced and it will display your exif info for the photo if its there, but you cannot copy and paste the info from here, you would have to do it manually.

Irfanview - the latest 3.98 version anyway - requires a plug-in to be able to view your EXIF data. I'm not sure if it is required for the data to be saved with the picture or not.

The only 'save' option it offers is a 'save as' so you have to work a little to over-write your original picture. Here are the options that appear when you do a save and they remain as ticked until you manually make a change. This window is attached to the sides of the 'save as' box.

Steve, I use "Photosuite 3" There is a version 7 available, but I am happy with the simple functions that I have.
