Big mistake!!

Would have been better with free AVG and various other free goodies, however that is not what you need to hear (or you could have bought AVG!!)

You need to go into the Internet Security control panel and give youself permission to access the internet as a first step.

Then when you get connected to live update you will probably find that the downloads fail. If that is the case run live update again and deselect all but one update and run that. Do that for each update in turn. You should then be ok. Last time I had to do this for someone (a friend that foolishly bought all the add ons that Dell offered!!!!) it took me about 2 hours to get the beast fully upto date.

It takes some getting to grips with, and I hate it passionately - can you tell? - but it will keep your computer relatively safe.

i had same problem, you will have to turn your firewall off, then you are ok.

Tried to get it working, no matter what i done could not configure it correctly,

gave up & scrapt it.

i had to drop the firewall when i first updated (i also had to drop it to access the microsoft update site) but later updates sorted it out and it runs perfectly now , i tend to put the security higher than default and put up with the boxes asking if i wish this or that ,better safe than sorry in my book
