I've been keeping an eye on the AT's news pages this year, and there have been some very good bream and tench catches this spring, but this one is very special! An amazing brace.

And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music

Reading this Anderoo its similar to where I am fishing when targetting the gravel pits.

 

I have done best at the bottom of the bars so far but weed growth has now filled those areas. we all know bream like clear areas to feed.

 

Have you done well at wingham on top of bars. These on the water I am fishing are 10ft deep with the areas around them 15.

 

They are clear clean gravel.

When I was fishing wingham there wasn't much weed, and also most of the bars were too shallow to fish on top of (often only a couple of feet or so deep), so I didn't fish right on them. Most fish (including the few bream) I caught at the base of bars/humps. The last bream I had was out in no man's land on a large flat silty area, but at that time it was surrounded by heavy weed and was the only place in that area with a clear bottom.

 

However, in a water with deep clean bars with surrounding weed, fishing on the bars sounds perfect.

 

If you haven't already got a copy I would really recommend Terry Lampard's book First Cast, and read the bream chapters, especially the Broadwater one. Not all bars are equal...!
