10-15lb 49 strand wire

I said in my previous post I switched to nylon. but on reflection it may well have been thin braid. It's quite a few years ago now......

One other point. The jig would have been connected direct to the reel line by a tiny clip, the sort used by fly fishers. I'm terribly busy at present but you can probably find them on the net - I think they were distributed by Mustad and Partridge.

There's no rule about how long the trace needs to be

Well that's interesting. I wonder how far you could push that, and whether there would be any point in doing so? I wouldn't fancy arguing the toss with a bailiff boat.

I bet there is a way of seamlessly attaching wire to line - maybe something like using the thick end of a tapered fluoro leader to match the wire thickness?

Ridiculous hoops to jump through, though.

If the effect on zander captures is as dramatic as you think it might be, they might lose a lot of business. Might rethink the policy.

Here's a link to the fly clips I mentioned: http://www.anglerscorner.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=792#.U7-5culOXIU. I see no reason why they couldn't be used to connect wire to flouro. Of course the mini rings as used by carp anglers would also be a possibility.

That's a neat solution, Steve. Maybe one of those on the lure end of the wire and a mini-ring with some shrink wrap on it joining the wire to the fluoro?

Thanks Steve, I'll have a dig around :)

Looks like this is where it all started.

Read through the thread. Thanks for reminding me why I shun most other angling forums and any form of "specialist" group.
