Browser Problem

I can connect to forums, but not post (when I click "reply" it says it's loading, but does nothing). I can connect to bbc.co.uk, google & crystals website, but can't connect to eBay or Mircrosoft. Also sometimes when I connect to eBay.co.uk, firefox will ask me if I want to download "ebayISAPI.dll". Sometimes though, eBay does load and when I click to sign in, the same thing will happen again (get asked to d/l or won't load).

I have tried all this with 2 desktops & 1 laptop, using both IE & Firefox and I'm getting the same problem with all machines.

It's although when I try to load a webpage that is a bigger file size, the problems above occur. Not going through proxys btw, direct connect to the net via Netgear DG834G router (via ethernet cable direct from the router)

I have,

- Cleared the Cache, Cookies & History

- Renewed my IP address

- Scanned my computer with Norton to check for a Virus (nothing found)

- Checked my firewall (No problems that I can see there)

- Changed my ethernet cable, that doesn't appear to solve it

- Disconnected & reconnected the router

- Re-booted the router

- Countless restarts

And I've run out of ideas! I'm not sure what else I can do to fix this problem. Is it possibly an issue with the ISP? (I'm with Aohell btw *roll eyes*)

Thanks in advanced I can't post as of yet, but I will be able to read any replies

i have similar problems sometimes, including the thing about only connecting to certain websites, but usually a restart of the machine and router sorts it.

have you tried kicking your pc?

Not sure what is going on there, but certainly could be an AOheLl problem.

Just for the record, you say that you don't connect via cache, but in fact that is precisely what you do with AOL, you connect to their cache servers for the static part of pages, only when you send stuff do you actually send data to the real websites.

Sounds like that is where the problem lies.

Contact AOL tech support, it's what they're there for.

Try this command from a dos prompt.

ipconfig /flushdns

Thanks for your replies guys :) (and thank you John for posting this for me :) )

I tried that DNS trick Melph, didn't work, tho I will remember that! :) No Jeeps, didn't try kicking it, can't get my leg up that high wearning a skirt! :P

Just got off the phone to aol (wow, I got speaking to a person in under 2 minutes! Miracles do happen! :yeah: ) and it did actually turn out to be a slight glitch with the router.

The "Wan Setup" had to be set to 1400 instead of 1492, which it was.

All working now, yay :D:D:D
