you will find info on bass very difficult to comr by as its guarded very closely.

suggest you join the Stranraer club ot talk to the locals + eric in the tackle shop.

there are different ways of catching in this area. popular at the moment is spinning and plugging. bait fishing also scores high.

pretty much every sandy beach in rough conditions will have a bass on it. just have to make the effort to get out and try.

contrary to popular opinion on here i have recently been down that way and tried for myself with varying degrees of success. no lunkers yet but fish to 5lbs.

Will give eric's ear a bend and maybe venture out this pm to a sandy mark. Maybe try spinning and plugging.

strange but true.

you'll be amazed how shallow bass will feed. no long casting reqd. the fish will feed just behind the breakers. wading past the shallow stuff will usually take you past the fish as well.

sandy beaches tend to be best for bait.

spinning best done at the extremes of the bays. especially if they have rocky outcrops

when spinning or plugging make sure the water has quite a bit of clarity. no point in a predator hunting by sight if it can't see for muck in the water.

i'm no expert but seems J11 & J13 are good patterns. blue or dark back with silver belly. another pattern is the one that looks like a small rainbow trout.

spinners seem to be silver toby and the like.

j11 and j13
These are the models of lures made b a company called Rapala. they have a great action and bass seem to like them.

The down side is that they are very expensive and as they are made from balsa wood are very light - not good for casting.
