A National rod licence boycott?

While I can't see a reason for a boycott, that would be acceptable to me, I'll defer judgement until I find out more.

And that doesn't mean I'll be buying AT!

Angling is more than just catching fish, if it wasn't it would just be called 'catching'......... John

Why don't we boycot the AT and renew our licences; this is what I do every year.

I refuse to print the whole article ona fishing forum on the grounds that ,the Angling Times say they support what Keith advocates, I say, PROVE IT! by taking the trouble to inform all the anglers that do not purchase their paper, I am still awaiting a reply from their editor, trust me ,as soon as he has responded you will know!

To clear up a very, very important point though, Keith is advocating not buying a licence for a fortnight and NOT going fishing for that period, he is NOT advocating any law breaking by anglers.

The whole idea is to hold back as much of the £23 million pounds we pay to the Government in licence fees (some people pay by direct debit already set up) to make them sit up and LISTEN to anglers , we do have a point of view,we do contribute greatly to water quality, but we DO NOT have a PROPER voice in Parliament that the politicians will listen to, our governing body's are a disgrace, and this is anglings way of making our voice heard, MONEY TALKS. regards bob.

(ps Doesn't the AT make money by selling AT? )

Carefull with Leon's link people....I just very nearly parted with £23 for a licence that expires at the end of next month..... :P I would have been more than happy to have renewed my licence till '07 though.

The word on the grapevine is that its in protest to fish removal by our `foreign friends`. A noble cause but whos going to listen? Education is one answer, stiff fines are another and oh, nearly forgot there, hows about some good old fashioned BALIFFS.

Not buying a license and not fishing for two weeks is hardly going to bring the country to its knees is it? OK, tackle shops may well suffer a bit but the government aren`t really going to have to hold crisis talks just because we don`t go freezing our nuts off for a few hours on a Saturday morning.......................

The Countryside Alliance never manged to change much and they visually protested in their thousands.

Give it up AT, stop crusading, no-ones interested anymore.

(Oh, by the way, I have a lot of time for Keith Arthur, he helped me out way beyond anything I could have hoped for when organising a Florida trip)

In this weeks Angling Times Keith Arthur is advocating a two week National rod licence boycott in April, I have e-mailed Angling Times and requested (as they are in full support) that they post the whole article and comments made on here and every other angling forum, so that Anglers may debate this issue properly, lets hope they are as committed to this cause as they say.

Please try to read the posts properly, before making inaccurate comments.

Hang on - are you suggesting a national angling 'news'paper is publishing something controversial (which in all likelihood will have been forgotten about by next week) in order to generate publicity? How strange... <_<

Looks like it's working.

The EA gives excellent value for the money that it receives. Witholding money will only leasten what can be done.

In a nutshell if anglers want more then they must pay more, simple as that.

Dear old AT, shades of the Workers Weekly!! I suppose they will start on their annual crusade regarding the close season pretty soon. Impressive read!!

EA's done some cracking work on the Rivers up my way, and I get mine direct debit....£23 is a steal.....

What difference is two weeks in April going to make?...
