My role is just food, campsite...........

Glad to hear it, but am not fooled. You chaps need an addendum to Rule 22 re birdwatchers sneaking in with the best fish of the day....

Sounds like Norma is odds-on favourite ;)

There's been a few reports from the LAS day, sounds like a tough day for Rutland although it sounds like most people if not everyone caught zander.

And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music

I didn't think I could go but just realised I can do the 24th as long as i'm home early Friday morning! Can't get away this week.

Just looked and Friday is the 24th, should have put my glasses on last night!! So no I can't go, typical the two weeks youre going are the two weeks I can't get away. Don't suppose you could change the 24th to the 23rd???

Last minute check on logistics

Starting time ? We are coming in from a caravan site just to the north of Rutland

Check list Here is mine, have I left anything out ? If so, please say

For the anglers. Food, drink, cushions, waterproofs, licences. cash to pay for the boat.

For the boat. Depth finder and safety cord, Drogue and G clamp, Anchor and rope, spare rope, small bucket (don't ask), Check boat has oars - safety jackets are provided.

For dealing with fish. Boat net, small bolt cutters (for accidental badly hooked fish) usual forceps, scissors etc, unhooking mat, camera, tape measure.

Tackle Won't presume to tell you what rods, reels, lines, traces or lures, but have a spare rod/reel/line in case of terminal rod snap, reel seizure, over-run or tangle, adequate range of jig heads 30 g to 50 g, Wire traces for when you have caught enough zander (!!!) and decide to go for pike,

Anderoo has my mobile number and I have his if there are any last-minute hitches.. Communication by text in my case

Looks good Dave, I see waterproofs are on the list :)

One additional thing is a few large garden waste/rubble bags (heavy duty bin bags). If it's going to be wet it's very handy to put your bags/etc inside them to keep them as dry as possible.

Eating wild caught fish is good for my health, reduces food miles and keeps me fit trying to catch them........it's my choice to do it, not yours to stop me!

If you can catch 60 fish in a session it sounds like taking a few wouldn't do any harm, and they really are very good eating

Let's agree to respect each others views, no matter how wrong yours may be.

There used to be a rule where you could take one or two zander under 5lb per trip if you wanted, I don't know if that's still the case as some rules are a bit in flux at the moment. If anyone is serious about wanting to take fish, email AW fishing to check, or call the rutland lodge.

.....tape measure.

Almost forgot that, well done Dave!

2m should be enough for me but because I'm a considerate sort of chap I'll take a 300mm ruler for JV44 to use, should be plenty even if he catches pike.
