Memory Cards

Recommended Posts

Hi folks,

The 20d arrives on Wednesday courtesy off Warehouse Express (another AN recommendation) and I haven't got around to checking out memory cards yet. Any advise on what spec Compact Flash would best suit the Canon and best places to buy would be very gratefully received.

Some superb photos on here now, I look forward to contributing a few of my own creations soon.

Thanks in advance. :)

Is this one at a decent price? ;):D

Bargain?

Looks a bit pricey to me.;)

I don't know enough about them to recommend one. I'm a bit surprised you didn't get one from Warehouse Express at the same time as the camera.

Another place to try is 7Dayshop.com they are usually pretty competitive, and as reliable as W/E.

I always try and aim for cards with a write speed of 40X and over as this seems to work fine with my camera(card seems faster than camera buffer) dont know much about a 20D so it maybe overkill but its better to have to much than not enough :)

Just read a bit about the 20D and it seems that 40X my not be overkill looks like a cracking bit of kit :)

I have haqd a 20D for quite some time now.

I, personally, use a Lexar 80x CF Card:-

Click here to see Lexar 80x CF Card.

In my opinion, it's the best CF Card for the 20D - or 5D or 1DS MKll.

Thanks for the help, I felt a touch lazy after posting yet another request for advice so I ended up doing a bit of searching of my own to burn the midnight oil and ended up ordering a 2gb Sandisk Extreme III to get me started.

133x 20mb / second should no doubt outperform the Canons capabilities but make for the ultra fast downloading of images to the pc.

Comes with a pouch of some description and most importantly RescuePRO software for restoring deleted images and retrieving data in the event of minor corruption probs. Being new to digital I guess I'm going to accidentally balls up sooner or later. ;)

Paid just shy of £75.00 from Picstop.co.uk last night and received a confirmation of dispatch this afternoon.

Got a little carried away and ended up ordered a battery grip to go with my new purchases. I should really go to bed earlier, it'd save me a fortune. :) This time I used The Digital Camera company who charged a very competitive £126, again tracking no. received, item on its way.

Cheers all.

These are good and very cheap. I got the SanDisk Ultra II, but the Extreme III may be worth considering. I think they are an offshore based company, so not sure about the VAT implications. I didn't have to pay any duty though.
