hi manxman dont know if youll read this before you go, but you should know that fishing inside harbours is forbidden in spain, also a licence is required for sea angling.

please forgive me if you already know this, but a 300€ fine and the confiscation of your gear might put a damper on your holiday.

p.s you can fish quite legally on the seaward side, but still need a licence

best wishes dave. :)

Manxman

Read what Dave has got to say; they are hot on unlicensed fishing in Andalucia and it is a pain in the proverbial to get a licence (not like the rest of Spain), also fishing in Harbours is forbidden nationally, don't think you will get away with it because you are a tourist.

Just got back on Tuesday form a long weekend Birdwatching in Cadiz province and the weather was not too good wet and windy, but looks like it will be OK from this weekend.

After a certain age, if you don't wake up aching in every joint, you are probably dead.

Saw about 200 stone in a shoal at the top end of Weymouth Harbour this morning.

Lots of fish that looked to b 5-7lb. Not many below 3lb!

In my opinion, mid-May is soon enough to start mullet fishing here in the south-east. I'm not saying that they can't be caught earlier, just that it's not really worth bothering until mid-May.

I suspect that most of the fish that show late April are thinlips.

The fish that I saw were hanging around the outfall from Radipole Lake. Not the easiest places to get a net round them.

They were probably waiting for the sluices to open wide enough for them to get through to their summer pastures.

Tiny Cook used to net a lot of mullet there, but he's long gone.

There's some biggish Carp in there, some used to be over 30lb.

I think there's most coarse species in there. They were put in to keep the flies and mosquitoes under control.

The RSPB would like to have all the carp taken out, mainly because of personal problems between the wardens and the bivvy boys.

I suppose someone could try fly-fishing for the mullet.

Floating crust might attract too many birds to make it worthwhile, perhaps.

There seems to be a set of regulars that fish for mullet in the main upper harbour(along Westwey road).

No Net!

I'm not sure that angling is allowed in amongst the boats in the marina.

Westwey Road runs along the bottom of the picture.

I was on the footbridge to the left of the boats.

The sluices are in the old road bridge to the left of that footbridge.
