I have had a double figure Pike out of the water for over an hour before and it swam away fine and was caught a few months later.

 

Not an admission that I would have made, even if there was any possible justification for it!

 

The simple answer is that I don't know. But the fact is that many pike die after being caught, and very often the captors don't know it.

Mr Mc Fudge, May I respectfully suggest next time you wish to spend an hour in the company of a Pike you leave the Pike in the water and immerse your head along side it?

To me if a person catches a fish and would like a photo of it then I can't see any reason why they shouldn't take one. I'm sure the fishing publications would all look a bit boring without photographs.

 

In every activity you will get people with no common sense and no matter how much you tell them the correct way to do something they will take no notice and carry on regardless.

 

I can see this subject is going altogether too PC.
