I have a 2 piece 9 weight outfit that I use for pike fishing in the summer and am thinking about buying a 10 weight 4 piece rod for saltwater and mahseer fishing when I go travelling.

If I use my existing 9 weight lines, how will this affect the rod's ability to turn the flies over and will underloading the rod make it more difficult for a relative novice at fluff chucking ?

If it's going to be hard work, any recomendations for cheap #10 lines ?

Underlining a rod will mean you have to speed up your casting stroke. I'd say for a novice caster you are better off sticking to the rods rating.

I always look at TackleBargains website if I'm after a cheap/discounted line. Remember a cold water line will be next to useless in really hot conditions.
