In my teenage years I was limited to what I could tie to my push bike.

As I approached my 20's trains became my mode of transport, being keen I use to take far too much, including walking in waders, which often were not needed. Not bad going as it was a couple of miles to Bromley South Station, then a fair trot from Farningham Road to Darenth and Sutton at Hone lakes.

Now I have a car and stick to minimal gear, a small light bag, rod quiver with unhooking mat and landing net, though my old bones do enjoy a seat.

Read this description of the Fox Evolution Stalker holdall,.........

"carries 3 or 4 made-up rods, 3 or 4 unmade-up rods, banksticks and umbrella"

....................... ideal for stalking on rivers (!!!!!!)

I think they also do a 90l rucksack..

You guys must have it all wrong you need six rods, and more gear than I took for a 2 week rail trip round

europe

LOL :D:D:D:D I remember years ago when the multi-rod movement began to take off remarking to Chevin that the days of hiring bearers (a la big-game shooting) for fishing expeditions were not far off.

Pete and I had suggested a couple of bearers each

"Book me eight" said Chevin "Four to carry my tackle, and four to carry me"

Depends on what I am doing. Stalking for pike, I tend to take my spinning rod, reel, net/handle and a bag with a fe spinners, lures etc etc.

For a full session on lake, river etc I will, sadly, end up taking my whole kit which is probably my weight in tackle and stuff. Never use more than 50% of it but "you never know".

Small rucksack with lightweight chair and landing net strapped to it, couple of rods, landing net handle and a couple of banksticks banded with Velcro. Couple of reels and selection spools small compartment box for weights hooks end tackle etc, etc and a small bag for bait. I have a Fox Stalker bucket but find it almost useless.

On the river yesterday... I know I took to much when:

A) passers by offer to help carry stufff..

B) when I get home I have massive bruises from all the straps...

Ever tried scaling down the stuff you carry MrMatthew?

As light as possible!

I go fishing by motorbike so don't want to be famously overloaded or have it pulling my back off at 70mph.

Instead of a bedchair i take a camp bed that needs to be put up instead of unfolded and a tent/shelter with those small fiberglass poles.

Places like army and navy stores are gret for things like that.

Cheers
