Patio Grouting

Rusty

Recommended Posts

I gave the patio a good jetwash today and as a result most of the grouting is now gone. I expected this and the clean up was partly to prepare it for new grout but having done that I’m not sure what to do next. When it was laid seven years ago a dry grout was used (theory is moisture comes up from the ground and makes it set) but it didn’t really work, there were lots of areas that didn’t set and those which did weren’t very secure.

This time I want to try a wet grout to make sure I get right into the gaps, there are loads of products on the ‘net and I wondered if anyone had particular recommendations? I'm going to need a lot of it I think.

Thanks in advance.

50/50 sand and cement brushed in with a broom dry and left overnight

Or for a hard wearing finish very carefully dribble a mix of neat cement and enough water to make a thick cream and dribble it into the seams with a jug ,dont get on on the slabs

The first is the easiest

No rain until 24 hrs later

Pyramid pointing is best but takes ages involves a wetish mix and pointing trowel making a roof apex shape in the mix ,brushing in and wetting over with a can is a method used by some but tends to be vunerable to peeps who go mad with pressure washers ................

Make sure the slabs are well bedded in and solid, as loose ones will soon crack up any grout you put in
