Was going to go on my private water today but found out last night that the owners are putting down 5 cattle grids from tomorrow and up to the next few weeks. So that me not out fishing until the end of April. I couldn't bother to get up today to do a quick session before the started the work!

Went to a syndicate lake on Sat for a walk around - at 200 acres I didn't walk around it all though, but saw half a dozen fishing it. Then went to another syndicate for a work party on Sat and Sun. On my own Sat so did a bit of fish watching and saw loads of them. Saw what was probably the lake record common swim right under my feet - and it's been out over 40lb and didn't look any smaller ! Shame they all seem to dissappear come the start of the season though, well for me at least :(.

I know the feeling Rob! I can go to several waters that still keep the traditional closed season. On all I can both see and sometimes feed the resident lumps but come midnight on the 15th they disapear! how do they know? cant always be put down to bank side disturbance.

And thats my "non indicative opinion"!

We even changed the season to start on the 1st of June and even that didn't trick them - who says they aren't clever :headhurt:;)

Took my nephew for his first carp session on a local commercial, caught a couple of nice commons, 5.5lb and 7.5lb both caught on 'Firestick' pepperami.

(Made a change, I usually eat it before it gets on the hair)

:D

didn't get out over Easter because of work, just done 7 days on the run while full of cold, managed to get out today first day off, went to lizard lakes in west drayton middlesex, thought I might catch 1 or 2, but ended up having my best day ever, first carp a common went 13lb 4 oz, next one baby mirror about 8lb, after that came a 14lb 12 oz common, then a 15lb 4oz common, next was another 8lb mirror, then came my first pb common which went 17lb, then came my second pb common which went 17lb 12oz, then came the last one a

10lb common, just a shame a 20 didnt come along that would have made my day, all were caught on fusion boillie, the small ones were all caught on a semi fixed rig, while the big ones were on a running rig.which was amazing because most of the carp were on the top, all mine were caught off the bottom.
