dodgy XP problem and Linux

emz download irfanview its a graphic's software that can do batch renaming and is very good at changing the attributes of unknown/wrongly identified file types and usually offers to correct them when the intregra's wrong ie .zta - .jpg theres plenty of tutorials on the support forum on the home page or follow this link

to even more tutorials ,but frankly its really easy to figure out.and if help is needed i could always help,its also capable of making slide shows and simple screensavers.plus loads of otherthings i've never played with in the years i've been using it.you'll find out more on their homepage + download links

and its freeware but it does come with the option to install google toolbar & descktop search tool but you don't have to install them.

I have not used this yet but if you want to play with some linux camera software look at gphoto version 2.

You can download all the bits here http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.p...lease_id=425235

 

You should be able to install rpm files in redhat by double clicking on them. no need to do this at the terminal if you don't want too.

Personally I love linux, but unfortuneately, it doesn't do everything :(

 

Edit - if you play long enough with it, it does!!!! :) My laptop does everything I want it to now, even runs my main appz for web development, something I was forced to use windows for at one time.

No problem Emz. Gphoto2 comes in three parts.

The library, used by the command line utility and by geeks to incorporate gphoto2 into there own apps.
