Wingham fish-in

Well the rain arrived big style today and you can notice the general drop in temperature. The warm, overcast conditions I had hoped for are sadly not going to happen.Never mind though most big gravel pits I know fish well with a wind and my winter clothes havnt been put away yet!Looking forward to seeing you all.

If I remember right even though it was warm during the day we had a cold wind blowing in the night last year.

And thats my "non indicative opinion"!

Can only manage the Sunday but really looking forward to fishing the place again and meeting old and new. Please keep an eye out for me at the gates as last year I couldn`t manage the combination!! I will be arriving at 05.00 and will try not to wake anyone sleeping in the clubhouse. Those of you fishing from Friday please leave some for me and the missus.

Tight lines Kevin (KAYC) :fishing:

1 day to go! My bivvie's so rubbish - I just checked the weather and I think I'll have to be in it to stop it blowing away :o

My only hope is that the weather's not too bad. BBC and Metcheck are giving slightly different versions so it looks like no-one's really sure.

Just made up my ground bait.

1.6kg of white bread liquidised by myself,.5kg of oiled hemp seed,.5kg of sweetcorn and two other secret ingredients.

Left to gain its power in the garage until the morning.

I will probably have two quivers out with small cage feeders, however i am thinking of giving the Hardy Matchmaker an airing what do you think. :sun::sun:

Fishing seems to be my favorite form of loafing.

What do you think if the float does not dip, try again I think.

Time to start getting ready.

Worms!

My brassica seedlings are being overwhelmed by weeds, so it seemed a good excuse for some weed pulling.

The activity usually brings a few lobworms to the top.

Sadly, none appeared, but a reasonable number of ordinary earthworms were found around the roots of the weeds.

A couple of experimental spade-fulls revealed no lobs underneath.

Oh well, with some of the brassica seedlings now blinking in the light, no longer surrounded by fast growing weeds, it was onto the next vegetable bed, mulched with rotted horse manure in the springand awaiting the cucumber plants.

Lobs! :)

Having gathered a few as I worked across the bed, I was startled to see a monster comingout of the ground behind me, three times the size of any of the other respectable lobs already in the pot, and thick with it too!

That is going to be too scary for use as bait, even for Steve's monster fish.

But then again......... :)

Then onto the manure heap for a helping of red worms, then into the worm bins for a good helping of reds, dendras, and...... good no brandlings!

Off now to the tackle shop around the corner for some maggots and groundbait, then I'll be selecting rods, reels, floats feeders.

Ooooo! I'm getting excited!!

ps. No amount of negotiating has been able to convince Brenda to let me have the car Saturday morning, so keep my Saturday BBQ wrapped up for me Peggy, I'll be along as soon as I can (probably about 1:30).

See some of you early tomorrow am :)

I'm deeply jealous of you all, and bitterly resentful I can't go, but here's wishing everyone a great time at Wingham! :)

With a near 100% record of *wrong* weather forecasts, my prediction is wet, windy and chilly. There. Should be a nice weekend ;)

Extremely tight lines all !

Bright sun and a nice SW wind perfect conditions (15 mins away from Wingham)

Den, if you could just hit 'pause' on the weather, I'd really appreciate it :)

The temps should be ok, the wind's from a good direction, but may get quite high, and we'll be getting some rain - all in all not bad fishing conditions I reckon. At least it won't be cold with north-easterly winds. Ever the optimist!

Speaking of optimism, my mate 'Boilie-dangler' is coming and he's managed to convince himself he's in with a good chance of a massive carp from the coarse lake. Now there's courage!
