As some of you may have heard, the Angling Trust and other "sport" anglers are trying to get UK recreational bass fishing restricted.

A lot of people who like to pop out for a day "on the bass" and bring home a few fish to eat aren't too happy. The AT and another petition that the AT are pushing are calling for 80% restrictions !

i think that that is absolutely reprehensible....hence the petition.

:clap3: Signed but I doubt if the powers that be will even read it as the EU and the CFP are all powerful. :bye2:

I totally agree Norm, it could come in handy as ammunition though when it all goes horribly wrong!

Eating wild caught fish is good for my health, reduces food miles and keeps me fit trying to catch them........it's my choice to do it, not yours to stop me!

Latest non urgent news that TAT are not really advertising, following their lobbying of the e u fisheries a week or so ago, the victorious trust returns the news that rsa are to be restricted to 3 bass each.

Applaud their hard work and the good news release. Their achievement has been gained with no consultation with the rsa btw, they know best and are experts in hammering out the best deal possible for the rsa.

Yup this new piece of legislation is going to work wonders for the u k bass stocks.

pass the sick bag. :yucky:

Free to choose apart from the ones where the trust poked their nose in. Common eel. tope. Bass and sea bream. All restricted.

New for 2016 TAT are the main instigators for the demise of the u k bass charter boat industry, where they went screaming off to parliament and for the first time assisting so called angling gurus set up bass take bans with the e u using rubbish exaggerated info collected by ices from anglers, they must be very proud.

Upgrade, the door has been closed with regards to anglers being linked to the e u superstate and the failed c f p. So TAT will no longer need to pay monies to the EAA anymore as that org is no longer relevant to the u k . Goodbye to the europeon anglers alliance and pathetic restrictions from the e u.

Angling is better than politics, ban politics from angling.

Consumer of bass. where is the evidence that the u k bass stock need angling trust protection. Why won't you work with your peers instead of castigating them. They have the answer.

Recipie's for mullet stew more than welcomed.

Angling sanitation trust and kent and sussex sea anglers org delete's and blocks rsa's alternative opinion on their face book site. Although they claim to rep all.

new for 2014. where is the evidence that the south coast bream stock need the angling trust? Your campaign has no evidence. Why won't you work with your peers, the inshore under tens? As opposed to alienating them? Angling trust failed big time re bait digging, even fish legal attempted to intervene and failed, all for what, nothing.

Looks like the sea angling reps have been coerced by the ifca's to compose sea angling strategy's that the ifca's at some stage will look at drafting into legislation to manage the rsa, because they like wasting tax payers money. That's without asking the rsa btw. You know who you are..

Where's the release Barry, I can't find anything online and, according to someone who shall remain nameless, a mesage to him from Malcolm Gilbert revealed no bag limits for bass....yet!

punched bored and drilled at the mo Nick, yup that has come from TAT, I will find the link for you, gis a while, you don't have to mention the **** who doesn't know his one left foot from the other and will remain nameless just like a soft wood plank.

Hear the good news on roskilly stepping down.

Gilbert was something to do with the foodchain being decimated for years, so he don't count in anything to do with conservation in any event.

me being presumptuous Nick. the bass take bag limit is what TAT and BASS have proposed to the e u and defra and co without consultation. I got the info from a TAT release last week and also it has been repeated by a release from BASS. Not satisfied with emergency measures and this is the reason why they went to the e u, BASS with gilbert speaking on behalf of the org want permanent management measures on the u k bass.

There is a massive war and peace release by BASS stating the same as TAT with what they want to see imposed on both the commercial and rsa bass fishing in the u k. It's horrifying when the only facts and evidence they can use or have is the aged science from the solent. That is now out of date and not relevant in the argument they claim of depletion.

They are now claiming that the u k gill netting has a discard of 45% and I would imagine that is a toe in the door to get that banned as well. It is a massive shift as far as I can see to have the u k bass a rsa only fishery with restrictions that will not be fit for purpose.

The opposition to these wants are derisible.

Well, it has all gone horribly wrong! We are about to get a 3 bass a day limit. Arguably, shore anglers and un-powered boat anglers can take as many as they like as long as they claim that any over the 3 are for legal sale!

http://ec.europa.eu/information_society/newsroom/cf/mare/itemlongdetail.cfm?item_id=22197&lang=en

Of course trawling for the spawning bass in the western English Channel has been banned too....but the Frenchies just got their long-lines out and carried on as usual!

So, anglers restricted, commercials not!
