Best Centrepin / Rod combo

Bit bored on this chilly day so I thought I would ask this question.

 

If money was no object what Centrepin and Rod would you use for trotting for Roach and Chub.

Obviously there will be some who like the cheap and practical and others who like more bespoke rods and reels..

Well, I really can't believe that there is a better reel than my trusty Okuma, but my aged Bruce and Walker has surely been surpassed in recent years. It will take some beating, but maybe there is such a rod out there, any ideas?

Well I'd be very hard pushed to beat what I already use:

My favorite rod for trotting with a Pin is the Normark range of match rods.

Up to now out of the Pins I've used I like three pretty much equally, Aerial Gem, Youngs Bob James and the Adcock Stanton.

I like Pins 4 or 4 1/2 inch diameter and a spool width of an inch or so.

My 'when I win the lottery' centrepin is the Ray Walton Rolling Pin. For now I'd pair it with my Grauvell but I'd be purchasing a Martin James 'Chevin' if I could as the man knows his stuff.

Harrison 15' GTi and Bob James Lightweight is what I currently use of choice. I'll have a Witcher too one day!

The rod is a hardy 14 ft floatrod or a cjw [ dutch rod ] and the pin is mine old youngs

or the barbel master form Chris lythe

Martin and I both have Chevins but we both use the 1lb 2oz Grauvell in preference they are a superb bit of kit.

Heaven only knows why you would choose the Rolling pin as there are so many good pins out there that are a fraction of the price.. If it is distance casting you are wanting learn to Wallis cast it is easy if you want to come up to Lytham St annes I will happily teach you the process should only take an hour and you will have a skill for life.
