Rare Fish Identification

Caught one of these today, it almost pulled me rod in, i also missed two other good bites, can anyone tell me what species this is and do they think the other bites could be from others the same.

That's one of them horrible Bass things init, tis an over rated pest fish. Best to sling it back, move marks and try to catch som eproper fish.

its defo a bass, not a pollack...just leave them in the sea for the ******** or their menus will be a bit sparse!

saw a bloke pull one out off the pier last week, he says its a pollack too.

I'm no Rex Hunt, but I seriously doubt it's a pollack. It's too light, Pollack have a white belly and greeny brown top dont they?

At a guess I'd say probably Bass or maybe Mullet?

What type of area was it caught in - that would be a big clue!
