do i need a day permit to fish lancaster canal or can i obtain a day ticket off a water bailiff at the canal bank,as i live quite a distance from lancaster. CHEERS

Where abouts do you live. The Lancy runs from Preston all the way up through Lancaster towards Carnforth and beyond. The best places seem to be on the outskirts of preston or around Garstang. One place you could go/ring to enquire is Ted Carters Fishing Tackle shop in Preston. You can also buy tickets there.

There are different stretches run by different clubs.The Stainton stretch for example is run by a club in Kendal but you can just pay on the bank,about £3..Having said that,i have fished about 10 early morning sessions this summer and didn,t get asked for money once :rolleyes: .I am sure you would find the same thing on any part of the canal.Just have some money on you just incase you do get asked.
