Famous English Chalk Stream to be Refreshed

After years of lobbying against excessive water abstraction from the Upper Kennet, angling and conservation groups - backed by local MP Richard Benyon - have given a warm welcome to the announcement from Thames Water for a new £25 million drinking water pipeline that will significantly reduce the amount of water taken every day from the famous Wiltshire and Berkshire chalk stream.

Hooray - fantastic news - extraction at Axford has been a real scourge of the Kennet ever since it was drilled.

Chris personally it has always surprised me with the number of large clear water pits in the Cotswold water park and it`s proximity to Swindon they didn`t look there years ago

Exactly - the plan to pipe water from Farmoor has been mooted for years - so this decision is long over due!
