Pleasant evening

:clap2: I decided that as we were out of the World Cup there wasn't really any point in watching the other game as the result was irrelevant, so I decided to have a go for some sole. First cast produced an eel while my mate put a rod down for bass. Second cast a pout but too big for bait so I put a rod out for bass too. As soon as I'd done that my mate had a bass of about 2lb, nice eating size. Wallop, over went my bass rod and after a fair scrap I had a good bass of 4lb 10 oz in the net. No more bites so we went home, no sole but not exactly a failure. :clap2:

The 4 pounder is a good eating size, but 2 pounds? A bit small I think. Good session though.

:clap2: I find a 2lb fish to be about right for 2 people and I like to put the bigger ones back as breeding stock, although if we've got guests for dinner I'll keep a bigger one as opposed to two smaller ones, it looks better on the dish. :clap2:

Agreed, put the 4lber back and take the barely legal. The 4lber will be of spawning age whilst the schoolies aren't of breeding age.

:clap2: A 2lb'er is about 43 cms so well over the 36 cms legal and above the NFSA minimum of 41 cms as well but if they raise the MLS to 45 cms I'll be happy with that. :clap2:
