Bass Fishing Luce Bay

I am going to target bass in Luce Bay, in the past I have mainly used plugs and spinners. This year I want to try natural baits. I know I can trap prawns but am unsure if bass will take them and how to fish them. Thinking of float fishing them live?.

Next is sandeel I have used frozen in the past but would like to try fresh either as live bait or dead bait. The problem is how to catch them. I have looked at throw nets but the ones I have seen seem to have to larger mesh. I have tried pulling a knife blade backwards through the sand but only got a couple. Can they be caught on hook or by traps?

Any other tips. I am leaving then ally tin boat behind this year so will be shore fishing.

Ian's yer man for advice on sandeels over there.

I have had them there on the tiny strings of feathers, like mini mackrel feathers. But as for the marks you would need expert advice for that . Our sandeels were a very hit and miss affair.

Peter, We were catching them on Sabiki rigs last week....and when we fished for Bass off Lymington, we used Launce/Sandeels. Running ledger rigs ,with a 9 foot trace...(if my memory serves) , very simple to set up too.....one thing I do remember Rob, the skipper saying, was dont use Silver Swivels, only Black, they spook easily.... :D and so do the Bass.!!!!!

OOPS, Just noticed you are going from the shore...fixed or running Paternoster .....PM me yer addy, I will send a Bass book to you..... :D:D

Lug worm seems to be taking the biggest fish this year, including one of 15 pounds. My son Matty is reguarly getting fish to 8 pounds on the Lug
