Thats just what i thought when i saw the topic title!!!!!!!! :sun:

wonder how many people are using his disgorgers..mine was stolen...

Nursey and Ant, I looked at this thread for the same reason. Seems so long ago and yet it could have been yesterday when I was photocopying tide tables for him weeks in advance of his trip to the Needles with a few on here, sadly never got to join him :(

Anyway, I bought some of Alan's disgorgers, two of each large and small, I rarely use the small ones so if that is what you had stolen give me a PM and I will send it to you as I know Alan would have done.

If it's the large one I will have to check if I have still got two

A handy tip for anyone who has trouble with forceps bending and slipping off the hook is to cut them down a bit witha hacksaw and then round off the jaws with an emery stone or grinder.

This lets you get a firm grip that wont slide off.

I did a search and found a lot of posts on these disgorgers. And on Mr Taylor, he seemed a very generous and thoughtful man (and a bit of a character :) ),I would like to have known him.

The thing is, there doesn't seem to be any pictures of the disgorger left on the site. Curiosity has got the better of me, and I would love to see what all the accolades are about. Does anyone have a picture that they could post, just to put me out of my misery? Thanks.

I usually use an alloy disgorger that I've had since I was a kid but I've just bought another disgorger and I believe that it has a Slammo disgorger on the other end - how is it used exactly? Is it the same as a normal barrel disgorger. I've also seen some disgorgers where the head is sahped a bit like a flower?? How do these work and are they any good?

Hello

I have been using the basic plastic disgorgers which if no probs where the hook is are fine. However, I have had a few that have been a struggle to get the hook off as the disgorger bends and eventually snaps under the strain. Has anyone got any ideas about a better one if it exists ??

Ali

Are you trying to save the fish, or the hook?????????????

If you cut the line off as close to the fish as possible, you have a far greater chance of saving the fish. NEVER stick a disgorger down a fish's throat, imagine the trauma!!

Given the ability of my Rifle to put you out of your misery Gozzer, due to the range, (I bid on a 105mm howitzer on eBay but got sniped at the lat minute by ferret  ) I have attempted a scan on my 'little one' (don't start Newt) to give you an idea.

You will note that it is still in it's wrapper, I only open stuff when I use it and for some reason I havn't needed a disgorger for a long while

Seriously though (darn, promised not to use that phrase too much ) If Nursey wants it it is hers, I shall send it to her and she might let you look at it closer if you promise to behave.

Cheers Huge, your a star.

Now I've seen it and read the old threads, I think I can see how it works. Looks a useful piece of kit.

Don't worry if you've only got a little one, I've been told it's how you use it that counts :P
