A quick view of this---- i have some commision to spend from the family/kids stuff etc would this be suitable for a beginner in and around ponds and lakes that type of thing. If i can get this if it is suitable then thats half the battle because it will be about twenty quid away from being free. I'm a complete beginner and just need your advice please as im trying to figure out the best ways to get out there.

if this does not link can you just copy and paste it cheers

Its a nice setup and would do many people proud.

However, without knowing what type of fishing you will be doing, size of waters etc it is difficult to say if this is the best option for you.

You could spend less and get very similar setups, or spend less on a more "complete" setup for either ledgering or float fishing.

Do you have any experience at all of fishing? or have any friends/family that could introduce you to the sport?

All in all, it is a good setup, but you will need lots more bits n bobs to go with it.

Shop around a bit and you can buy the same gear cheaper.

I'm sure from memory the Hyperloop rods are £49.99 or less, and a few seconds on google has just found the reel for £44.99

They are both nice bits of kit, but ayjay is right they are expensive you can buy a lot cheaper if you look around,I have my Hyperloop feeder with a Okuma interceptor 30 and they work a treat together.

Also take a look at these.

You can still take your comission in cash you only lose a little more than made up by buying a lot cheaper elsewhere.

Fishing seems to be my favorite form of loafing.

"Even a bad day of fishing is better than a good day of work."

I know the joy of fishes in the river through my own joy, as I go walking along the same river.

What do you think if the float does not dip, try again I think.

Yeah but for £20 thats gotta be good though eh? This would in theory cost me £20.

Can someone just confirm if these rod reel items i have linked are good enough for lake pond fishing? with floats etc etc. The difference between the waggler and the feeder which would suit best do you think? in a nutshell whats the difference.

Thanks

If i was in your position, i'd go for the 13' waggler rod. The other two are a little bit more specialised.

The float rod will allow you to fish in ponds and slow flowing rivers and will comfortably handle fish up to 10lb with ease.

Spool the reel with 4lb line for normal fishing and 6lb on the spare if you know there's a chance of some bigger fish.

I found some of the fishing stuff from Argos to be pretty good for general fishing. Their float collection is excellent as is many of the other bits.

Don't forget your rod licence either !!!

Good luck and looking forward to hearing about "the one that got away"

Hi Andy, thanks for your reply, so the 13' Map rod and reel spare spool etc is ok for float fishing in ponds and lakes etc etc. Hope so because i will also look in argos as i work by one.

I suppose i'm just wanting to get something ordered so i know its coming i can then ask what people would recommend next to buy ie what hooks floats. them things that do the depth blah blah blah

Yep....a good all round float rod m8.

I have something similar which i've had for 15 years. I just take it down the local duckpond and enjoy catching whatever comes out....2 oz roach, bootlace eels or the other day, i caught a 7lb carp. As long as i'm catching fish, i'm happy (that should say as long as i'm sitting in peace and quiet by a pond, i'm happy).

As for other tackle, you'll need line, a variety of barbless hooks (sizes 8 up to 18), a landing net, unhooking mat (essential really), floats, a dispenser with various sizes of lead free split shot in, a couple of rod rests, bait boxes, disgorgers and forceps, plummett (to check the depth), scales to weigh your beasts, something to put your tackle in (woolies is good for tool/tackle boxes) a seat, a brolly.

There's a couple of reasonable starter kits...one for £50 in argos (page 152, no 7) or page 154, no 11 for £20.

Good luck

Andy

OI OI,

im suprised you haven't had more posters but jevs (andy) is spot on with a 13ft waggler you can fish almost anywhere with that sort of set up, argos floats another good idea enough floats to cover all most everything lakes, river, commercial waters, so stick with the waggler,

oh & if you talk to the fishermen on the bank someone will alway's be only glad to help you with all there fishing knowledge, so go & talk to them they dont bite, hopefully only the fish will good-luck my friend.

P.S. buy yourself the angling times or mail, or improve your coarse fishing, check em out for advice.
