Thanks - correct me if I'm wrong but that winning weight has blitzed the record for the final, by about three times?

Must have been a good match

most of them were margin fish to eh what a days fishing, and the rain held off until the end.

rumour had it that it had smashed the venue match record as well.

25 grand nice end to a days fishing like that eh.

A fantastic weight indeed. Testament to a very good angler.

I noticed the guy who came 2nd used a completely different fishing technique to Neil Machin.

Whilst neil Machin used a smooth, unhurried angling technique, the 2nd place fella opted for a more bullying approach. He also appeared to rush to land his fish. This resulted in him losing a very large number of fish which I'm sure would have won him the match had he not used a bit more caution whilst playing the fish.

Still, the match went to the wire. I'm sure Neil machin had in mind the final from 2 years ago when he was pipped right at the end of the match. I remember him losing a fish at the death due to him trying to land it too early. :headhurt:

How refreshing though was to see just how "ordinary" the anglers were. No airs and graces, just normal, everyday fellas who enjoyed fishing. A far cry from the jumped up sports personalities we normally see on Sky Sports!
