System Idle Process using all my CPU

I`ve got 2GB of memory so I doubt that its accessing the virtual memory that often.

on that note, just how much ram has your pc got as windows xp is a real demanding operating system, so you might be accessing your virtual memory which is a partition of your hard drive and a fraction of the speed of your ram.

well 512 ram is border line for xp as the system requires a fair bit of that,

but i run 512 and my system doesn't slow down, check to see what is running at boot up hit start then run and type in msconfig and see what is running under the startup tab.

it might be worth visiting hijackthis and run the program and see what is running in the background.
