Over the Christmas period ?

I hope to get out the day after Boxing day- Pike fishing.

I friend of mine had a 7lb 9ozs Chub last week on half a sardine dead bait !!

Bob

Funnily enough, my own PB chub was fluked many years ago, live-baiting for pike with the customary wire trace and twin trebles, and a 5" roach, and the next three in line, all fish over six pounds in weight, came to various lures!!

we hope to get the boat off the island and on to the Thames for a few days Boxing day onwards onto a prebaited spot but as the river conditions site is lit up like a Times square billboard I am not sure if that is going to be possible ,still she can go down as quickly as she comes up so not out of the question but the lower Kennet is usually the more dramatic......got some Stillwater piking in line if not......Bob H was that a Stillwater \Chub your mate had???

We are not putting it back it is a lump now put that curry down and go and get the scales

have I told you abouit the cruise control on my Volvo ,,,,,,,bla bla bla Barder rod has it come yet?? and don`t even start me on Chris Lythe :bleh::icecream:

Going to give the fishing a miss over Christmas. I have just applied for membership of a club and that will start on the 1st January which will give me some small river fishing. If conditions in the new year are even vaguely fishable, I hope to fit in plenty of roving sessions with a small feeder and trotting rods before the season ends after what ever happens to come along. While I wait for membership to start, i plan to feast and be merry. In past years I would enjoy some short sessions Pike fishing on the Lea over Christmas but that is not what it used to be and at the moment a comfy chair, pile of treats and nice malt is winning hands down.

Finished work early so had a cheeky 3 hours this afternoon on a whooshing chocolate coloured Thames,Gudgeon a chuck but only in one slack bit of water that I had seen the Grebes having a ball with small fish before and had hoped the perch would have been there but no sadly the Gudgeon baits went unmolested....Piking is on the agenda tomorrow and Sunday mainly down to river conditions

We are not putting it back it is a lump now put that curry down and go and get the scales
