Does anyone make their own cheese?

I've made beer and wine for years but have recently stumbled across some cheese making videos on YouTube. It doesn't seem difficult and all the kit is available through amazon etc.

Does anyone make their own?

Not yet but I think I'm at the same stage as you...been thinking about it for a while!...Not much help I know...

Eating wild caught fish is good for my health, reduces food miles and keeps me fit trying to catch them........it's my choice to do it, not yours to stop me!

£1.48 for 6 pints of whole milk at Sainsburys. That's about a fiver for a good sized block of cheese so it's not really any cheaper than buying a block of the commercial stuff unless you have access to cheap milk from a farm - farmers are paid a pittance for raw milk so you could probably do a deal.

I just fancy giving it a go,.

I have a good local supply of raw milk....I was thinking of this kit to start with and they do loads of starters to make lots of different cheeses.

Not deliberately, but I have occasionally had to push the milk down the plughole!

Actually, I have made fresh soft cheese, curdling the milk with lemon juice. It wasn't great.

I've not made hard cheese, but I've made cream cheese a few times.

I was given a Spanish recipe for "Queso Viejo" which translates as *old cheese*, it was given to me as a home-made recipe as used by peasants, (it's always peasants isn't it?).

I was warned that you don't need much, spread it on toast thinner than you would Marmite: the warning was justified.

Recipe in link below.

Interesting but it's more of a recipe using cheese.

Not me, but bought my daughter a cheese maker from Lakeland, which seems to do the business

The two best times to go fishing are when it's raining and when it's not
