Judy, its just for fun so do what you can...No great pressure on you at all, if you struggle explaining it, then leave that bit out..

Dan - http://www.gimp.org/ is free and pretty well on par with Photoshop in terms of power.

 

The 'learning curve' is a bit steeper but once you get comfortable with it, you can do for no cost what the Pb folks do after spending a fair chunk of change on the app.
