docklow pools is a nice holiday retreat, they allow dogs and the specemen lake hols carp and grassies to mid 20's and cats to over 60. very nice accomodation clean and friendly. about 9 lakes i think most of which are match / pleasure but the specimen lake is usually quiet, been there the last 2 years and thoroughly enjoying it, already pre-booked for next year.

My wife and I rented one of the cottages (not a lodge) for a whole winter some years ago whilst house hunting. I've since been back, not to fish, but to visit a friend several times who's stayed in one of the lodges, but the last time was a couple of years ago.

The fishing was extremely easy for silver fish and was bite a chuck nearly all year round. There were also lots of carp including I believe twenties although I didn't fish for these, plus a small number of big perch. Get your feeding right and a big bag is possible.

The lodges are very good indeed, and in fact you can fish more or less from your front door! There are two small lakes, both set in woodland - in fact they were quite overgrown when I was last there. The whole place is very quiet and off the beaten track, there being no access to the general public.

We're going back to Woodlakes in Sept.

I got some good Bream and Carp there in July, nothing over 20lb, though i heard other swims did.

Don't know about the dogs question.

Glad you're fixed up. I'd be interested to hear how you get on.

Are you staying in a log cabin or one of the cottages?

Woodlakes used to be my local fishery when i was living in kings lynn, theres never been fish above 26.5lbs in there as that was the lake record for 12+ years before it changed hands and they ruined it all by putting up those log cabins.

It used to be a good fishery with 70+ fish in a week session, granted most was in the 8-14lb range with the odd upper double, low 20lber.
