Was a cold frosty start this morning for me to 2015. My first fish was a 2oz roach and was joined by many more tiddler roach chub and dace. I did manage a dozen or so hand sized roach and a not so common for me poundish river perch.

Mine was a chub of about 3lb from the Thames, followed by others of about 2lb and 1lb. It was nice to see the tip move again after so many blanks but even in (what appeared to be) good conditions I couldn't find the bigger fish. Since then a night of rain has pushed the river right up and coloured it again so I'm not sure when the rematch will be...

And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music

Yesterday I had a mooch on a new (for me) river and had about 70 grayling and roughly the same number of trout. Most of the grayling where between 8 and 12 ounces (or smaller) with a few being about a pound. The trout where similar sized with a few probably scraping 2lb.

I got to my local small river at 3.15pm today so I only had a short period of light to see the float...only caught one small trout and my first chub of the new year at about 2 1/2lb.
