Wyboston Lakes

Recommended Posts

Went for a quick reccie last night and was quite impressed with the main lake. It's controlled by Luton AC and looks really nice. 24hr tickets are only a tenner (on the bank). Just wondering if anyone out there has fished or is fishing there.

Also reccied Gingerbread lake @ St Neots, again, any info appreciated.

Thanks - Phil

I've never done any good on wyboston but it does throw up some nice fish apparently. I've never fished Gingerbread but some mates have done well there. You might find asking around in the local tackle shops gives you some pointers.

There weren't may fishing it when we had a look around. Big, clear and seemingly featureless lake but sounds like hard slog !!!!! Good idea on the local tackle shops.

We had a quick quint towards Heron Lake (syndicate fee £350) and I found their web-site yesterday. Looks superb but expensive and I assume there will be a waiting list. Anyone got any info on this lake???

Gingerbread is nice looking lake but VERY close to the noisy A428. Had a quick chat to one of the locals when we walked round and he said there was a reasonable head of double/low 20's which showed fairly frequently.

Basically my mate and I are looking to find a nearby lake (within 25 miles) we can both join. He's currently a member @ Gingerbread and I'm "doing time" @ The Woolpack, Godmanchester. We are both struggling to bank fish and looking to share more "social bank time". It's a case of me wanting him to join WP and him wanting me to join GB so conclusion is to find a "neutral" venue we can both join so that neither feels disadvantaged by having to fish "away from home" so-to-speak!!!!!

Not sure wyboston is gonna be the answer, but I don'k know what else to suggest. If you're in Baldock then pop into North Herts Angling Centre. They are pretty good on waters all around that area and might be able to suggest some alternatives (it's my local shop).

Polly, if you haven't already then check out Manor Farm Fishing on the A1 between Sandy and Biggleswade.

They've got several lakes, some that specialise in just carp and even a stretch of the River Ivel.

I've always found it a well-run fishery and have always caught well there.

Our chief weapon is surprise

That place suffers from being right alongside the A1 and being low down in the 'pretty water' stakes in my book. Plus it tends to get a fair share of social anglers and groups.

I'm probably getting too fussy in my old age ;) but I might prefer quiet, pretty, club or syndicate waters

Been there, got the T-Shirt. It's VERY well run and facilities are good but noise from A1 is unbearable thru night, just a constant drone all night. Last time I ventured that way I had a "party" going on on the opposite bank, noise, bright (and I mean bright!!) lights ALL bloody night. They cleared off about 6 o'clock so bailiff could not speak to them. Said he had their names (assuming they booked using true names) and that they would never fish there again. Unfortunately the place does seem to attract the "wrong" sort of angler who prefer the social to actually catching fish. I'm with you Rob, prefer quiet scenic venues at least if I "blank" I can enjoy my surroundings.

Not too close to Baldock I'm afraid, more between St Ives and St Neots (Papworth).

I'll be in that area myself tomorrow and Sat - fishing just outside Huntingdon for a couple of nights - and the fish are starting to go on the feed apparently :) Here's hoping !
