By all reports stingrays are defensive animals that don't attack and no doubt the question will be asked whether he taunted the ray. He obviously got too close. He tempted fate and it caught up with him. Very irresponsible behaviour but that is who he was and he will be sadly missed. I just hope it doesn't become a big deal whether he goaded the ray, he did that with every animal, that was what brought him recognition, getting closer than anyone else and taking more risk, doesn't make him a bad man, just a bit of a fool. But I also hope nobody takes it out on the stingrays, people do very strange things when stuff like this happens.

I hate getting up early, I didn't even realise there were two 6 o'clocks in one day!

That ginger git couldn't hold a candle to Steve Irwin. Steve Did a lot for the cause of wildlife in general and crocodiles in particular in Australia.

I echo your sentiments on the ginger haired git.

The problem isn't what people don't know, it's what they know that just ain't so.

I wouldn't go as far as insulting him but I do question his judgement in carrying on working with snakes. Apparently, due to being 'tagged' by them in the past he is now allergic to antivenin.....

cant see how upsetting snakes for the entertainment of others is of benifit to anyone but him .

lots of people "milk" snakes for their venom and go about it with less fuss than the glare of the public amusement.

another git who riles me is that bloke that does self survival ,just how many of his veiwers will need to make a fish hook out of wood with a fish spine he just "happens" to carry about his person (no mention hoe he caught the fish its from) and i cant see a need to make a birch bark canoe in surrey.

such programs need to be put away on pay to veiw channels where they belong.

to top it all we now have a program about people catching animals that havent existed for millions of years and its highly regarded ,yes it probably is by the graphics people but to me its utter crap both visually and certainly scriptwise .

hopefully those involved will meet real dinosaurs in the shape of salt water crocs and now mr Irwins gone only death will result of it :P

The fatal stingray attack on Steve Irwin may have occurred because the animal was startled or frightened,

Can not believe that a man of Steve's experience would do that.

Fishing seems to be my favorite form of loafing.

I know the joy of fishes in the river through my own joy, as I go walking along the same river.

What do you think if the float does not dip, try again I think.

Poor guy, and his poor, poor family.

My son Jack will be gutted when he hears the news. Such a shame as Jack watches the shows and I'll sit with him (enjoying them as much a Jack!) and he'll get worried Steve'll get hurt and I'll say don't worry mate, nothing will ever get him, he'll be fine.

Now I have to tell Jack what happened. It'll be like telling him a friend has passed away.

Not looking forward to that. :(
