Prototype homemade lightweight spinnerbaits

I've never had so much a sniff on the larger spinnerbaits, normally intended for Pike but lately, I've been doing well on spinnerbaits, probably manufactured for the bass/perch market.

There wasn't a lot to them and since I make my own spinners, i thought I'd have a bash. Here's one of my first efforts.

I'm a bit slow at making them but that'll come with practise. I also can't guarantee the same parts every time but the build will be to the same standard every time. Cost i haven't even thought about... :headhurt:

Andy - I'd certainly expect to catch on those. Might be fun to try some with willow blades and some with a mix of willow and colorado too.

Now that cooler weather is in sight, I think sooner rather than later to rig some with willow blades.

How do they cast/fish ?

My first concern would be that the extra articulations might make them prone to tangles on casting or to being thrown off balance by weed instead of fishing through it.

Andy, they I have to say look as good as anything I have seen from the commercial world and believe me I have literally THOUSANDS of patterns from China to see!! The onbly thing I would lose would be the muppet. Bit OTT BUT having said that WHO KNOWS!!! But that looks VERY good matey!! Good luck!

It is to be observed that 'angling' is the name given to fishing by people who can't fish.

If GOD had NOT meant us to go fishing, WHY did he give us arms then??

(If you can't help out someone in need then don't bother my old Dad always said! My grandma put it a LITTLE more, well different! It's like peeing yourself in a black pair of pants she said! It gives you a LOVELY warm feeling but no-one really notices!))

Andy for £20 or so you can get enough components to make up a lifetimes supply of them.As youve found out they are dead simple to make. One thing I would say is ditch the muppet your using as a skirt and get some proper ones. They open up when mounted in reverse and give a much better illusion of life than a muppet.I tried muppets first too!

Heres a link to an article I did some years ago but it has some usefull links to get the bits from-
