Conflict on the riverbank

not a bad days fishing, twelve pike, four tench, loads of perch, two asians, not bad. :yeah::yeah:

While I undestand your anger and frustration having some uninformed, misguided guys pestering you about buying a fish, as an Asian American I find this pretty insulting and demeaning, making a gloating, glib reference to asians tossed into the water like catch and release. While I'm sure I would've felt like tossing them in myself if I were in your shoes, I certainly would've tried to restrain myself (and likely succeeded), and I certainly wouldn't have bragged about it, especially in a manner that makes it clear it was asians I was tossing in. I wonder if they were large maori footballers if you would've attempted the same thing. While I will stop short at calling your actions racist (you might have done the same if they were white), they certainly were the actions of a bully, regardless of the ethnicity of the men you tossed in. Your actions in alerting the bailiff were appropriate and should've been enough.

T.C Who arrested these guys? You see I am a Police officer in another area, unless some new laws have been past asking to buy fish is not an offence? If I was the attending officer to such an incident I would be questioning why both guys were drenched and pressing those involved for a plausible explanation.

If what you say is true, and things went wrong you could in the worst case be looking at a manslaughter charge if premeditation was proven even murder.

I understand you love your sport but value your freedom and life more, think how your family would feel if you were charged with a serious offence

Lecture over. Next time if you are being harassed by individuals, phone the police, it’s not a triple nine call so before you go fishing look up you non emergency police contact number and put it with your licence give it a call and someone will attend “eventually”. It’s good to get feedback from anglers and the general public as it helps us target our recourses and build a picture of whets going on.

Come on. we all know that the police are far to busy sitting in lay-by's ready to apprehend the hardcore organised crime lords i.e. motorists. :P:D;)

Yet another topic that is threatening to wander off into unpleasantness. Closed.

Note to Ant - you just happened to have the last post before I saw this thread. Not being closed because of what you said.
