First Pike trip of the year

I'm off for the first Pike trip of the year in the morning. I was out of the country in the earlier part of the year, and for me Pike is an Autumn / Winter fish.

I am taking a friend who is a professional Ghillie. Its been said that he could charm a Salmon out of a muddy puddle, but he has never caught a pike, despite many attempts. Heres hoping he breaks his duck toomorrow.

I think I would much rather see him get his first Pike than catch one myself. Having said that, once he has got one he is on his own :P

We are going to the loch where I caught my PB of 29Lb 12Oz 2 years ago so heres hoping for something like it again.

Really looking forward to it, I think the anticipation is often better than the reality :sun:

Let's agree to respect each others views, no matter how wrong yours may be.

Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity

Your pike is the size of my biggest muskie! I've never caught a pike bigger than 12 lbs.

I know what you mean. Anticipation often gets me checking and rechecking my tackle, deciding and redeciding which lures, rods, reels to bring along, and if I'm going on a camping/fishing expedition, I check all the hiking/canoeing gear over and over. On big trips, I can't sleep a wink, waiting for the next full day of travel.

Ah, but once in a long while reality exceeds anticipation, and that is true angling bliss.

Good luck!
