My new camera has arrived

Snatcher

Recommended Posts

Got home from work to find the wife had opened the parcel. She said look at the screen at the back its damaged :( Sure enough could see bobbles on it. Damm. Was about to phone Pixelmania to complain when young Snatcher got home from work and had a look at the damage. These pearls of wisdom sprang from his lips "Dad are you thick or what, try peeling off the protective film" :headhurt:

I totally blame the wife for the whole thing, she started it :)

Anyway have had a bit play with it and taken a few snaps :) Took one of next doors cats on the garden wall. Got up really close for the shot and I did not realise the flash would operate. The poor cat must have jumped 3 feet into the air with fright!!! A workmate of mine is a total camera expert so will take it in for him to give me a few pointers.

Will be posting up some stuff fairly shortly. The camera came supplied with two AA batteries so I need to buy a couple of rechargable ones and a charger. Any ideas team. Do the likes of Argos do them and about how much will it cost?

As regards to the batteries (and from memory only, I've not searched for it) You need a specialised battery type especially for digital cameras. They last a bit longer and are slightly more expensive, there has been discussion about it so you might want to search AN for it first.

Steve...:)

The Annsmann batteries are very good. I got a few sets of the 2700mah ones.

I did a full days wedding last month and one set lasted in my flash all day, with the majority of the flash indoors (so using more power).

Got them from www.warehouseexpress.com

A bit pricey but the charger I got charges a set of 4 in 30 minutes, and it came with 4 batts too.

:bigemo_harabe_net-163: Eeee Johnnie, you are a card!

Seriously now - I have rechargables and they are only OK. They give no warning they are about to pack in, in fact I usually have a couple of Duracels in my pocket for back-up. If I was you I wouldn't bother with a charger just yet, buy a cheap pack of AAs, carry a couple spare and see how you get on. Don't worry, you won't destroy the planet all by yourself!

Hi Snatcher ...

Get that camera working lad !!!

In reguard to batteries. B&Q do "Uniross" Ni-Mh 2300mah batteries with charger, and I have found they are ideal for camera/flash etc.

Buy a set of 4 batts ... that way you can have 2 in your camera, and 2 in reserve.

Bit pricey you might think, but well worth the outlay ....:thumbs:

p.s. Don't forget to take the lens cap off !!! :P:P:P:P

Snatcher don't waste your money on ordinary batteries, copper top or not. :wallbash:

Yes MrWiggly is correct, get down to your nearest Wilkos,or B&Q. I used Uniross in my old Olympus Camera and got loads of usage out of them.

With ordinary batteries you'll only get a couple of shots, as they don't use the full power. Go for the rechargeable, every time, and save loads of money.

Cheers 4 Now

Took advice from a camera expert at work and have just bought a battery charger which included 4 rechargable batteriesGot it from Argos for £19.99.

It is a Uniross Globe Trotter and the batteries supplied were Ni MH R6/AA Mignon 2300mAh 1.2v. The four are charging as we speak. The charger also takes AAA batteries which is quite handy. There is also an adaptor for use abroad :)

Have had a bit more "play" with the camera now and am slowly starting to get the hang of it. Am off to the Mull of Galloway this weekend so weather permitting will take a few "scenic" shots and post them up for your feedback :headhurt::headhurt:
